The Voices for Peace Iftar event held at the community hall was a resounding success, with a total of 65 attendees, including 25 non-Ahmadi guests. The event aimed to promote peace and tolerance within society and was organised by MKA Cambridge.
The event commenced with a recitation from the Holy Quran, accompanied by its translation, performed by Khadim Khamal Ampah Sb. Naib Sadr Luqman Bajwa Sb delivered a warm welcome address, acquainting the guests with the theme of the event and highlighting Huzurs aba’s concern about current global conflicts.
Khadim Umar Usman elucidated the concept of fasting in Islam, providing insights into its significance and practices. Mayor Cllr Jenny Gawthrop expressed gratitude for the invitation and praised the event’s focus on promoting peace. She actively engaged with attendees and commended the efforts put into organizing the event.
Murabbi Maaz Sb delivered a keynote address on “How to promote peace and tolerance in society,” offering valuable perspectives and strategies for fostering harmony within communities. A question and answer session followed, facilitating constructive dialogue among guests.
Regional Amir Sb Dr. Navid concluded the event by presenting a copy of the Holy Qur’an as a token of appreciation to the guests. A live call to prayer (Azan) was performed by Khadim Fadlullah Olowonmi Sb, with the translation displayed on the screen.
Guests were treated to a sumptuous meal comprising dates, samosas, rice, lamb qorma, vegetable lasagna, nan, raita/salad/drinks, cakes, and zarda, followed by tea/coffee. The evening prayers of Maghrib and Isha, including Taraweeh, were observed by the entire Jamaat.
The entire event was documented through recordings and photographs, capturing the essence of the gathering and the interactions among attendees. Guests expressed their appreciation for the warm hospitality extended to them throughout the event. The seamless coordination between all auxiliaries and MKA ensured the success of the program.
Additional attractions included pop-up banners, the book “World Crisis and Pathway to Peace,” and a Humanity First stall, providing further insights into the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community’s initiatives for peace and humanitarian work.
