Voices for Peace held at Scottish Parliament
The Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association UK (AMYA) hosted a Voices for Peace event at the Scottish Parliament on Tuesday, 24th September 2024, advocating for justice and a lasting ceasefire to promote peace in the Middle East.
The event was well attended by more than 75 guests including Members of the Scottish Parliament and councillors. Among the notable guests were Clare Adamson MSP, Lorna Slater MSP, along with Councillors Ross McKenzie and Jule Bandel.
Quoting His Holiness Mirza Masroor Ahmad, the Head of Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, The President of AMYA, Abdul Quddus Arif said:
“Irrespective of differences of background, I believe that on the basis of humanity, we are all joined together, and should therefore be united. All people and all organisations, must collectively endeavour to uphold human values, and strive to make the world in which we live, a better and far more harmonious place.”
Calling for peace, the director of outreach of Ahmadiyya Muslim Association UK, Ibrahim Ikhlaf said:
“Indeed the world unfortunately does not adhere to the principle of absolute justice and indeed this is the outcome of the morality which is shattered. Islam teaches us that peace is the outcome of justice. We must choose for our neighbours what we like for ourselves. Only when we fulfil the rights of each other with absolute justice, we will be able to achieve peace in the world.”
The attendees listened attentively to the proceedings and agreed on the importance of an urgent ceasefire and doing everything possible to establish peace globally. After the event, refreshments were served to the guests.
